Say Goodbye to Stubborn Warts

January 24, 2023

They can be ugly, uncomfortable and embarrassing. And for many people, they’re also a fact of life. Warts are raised bumps on the skin caused by the human papillomavirus (HPV) virus. While some folks who have warts leave them be, others are quite interested in getting rid of them. They can appear on virtually any part of the body.

At the office of Dermatology for the Family, we are committed to helping our patients maintain healthy, attractive skin. If you are suffering from troublesome warts, we’ll can help rid you of them safely and effectively. You’ll feel better about yourself and your skin.

There are generally five types of warts:

  1. Common: usually grow on your fingers and toes, but can appear elsewhere. They’re grayer than the surrounding skin.
  2. Plantar: develop on the soles of the feet and can make walking quite uncomfortable.
  3. Flat: usually sprout on the face, thighs or arms. They can be pink, brownish or slightly yellow.
  4. Filiform: appear around the mouth or nose and sometimes on the neck or under the chin.
  5. Periungual: grow under and around the toenails and fingernails.

While most warts are harmless, it’s best to visit our office for an evaluation, particularly if you have a wart on your face or another sensitive part of your body. It’s also important to see us if you have a wart that bleeds, hurts, changes color or shows signs of infection. We apply up-to-the-minute techniques to remove the wart, such as freezing it off, burning it off or, as a last resort, surgically removing it.

At the office of Dermatology for the Family wants to be your trusted partner in care. We understand how warts and other skin conditions can affect your overall well-being.
